Independent correct
Correct on your first attempt, without using a clue.
Progressive Adaptive Learning (PAL) helps you learn through carefully structured MCQs. Questions become more challenging across five levels, while your recent answers guide your next step.
Your route to exam readiness
Progress comes from how well you answer—not simply how many questions you finish.
Start simply
Use the introductory text or videos if the topic is new. Already well prepared? You can go straight to the MCQs.
Try independently, or use a clue when you need help. Your answer outcome determines the marks you earn.
Learn from the explanation where available. After your first five answers at a level, PAL begins checking your progression.
The learning path
From core concepts to demanding exam questions. Select a level to see its main emphasis.
Build confidence with basic facts, definitions and core ideas. This is the starting point for a sound understanding of the topic.
Recognise the essentials.
Level names describe the main emphasis. Question styles may overlap, especially in the middle levels; overall difficulty increases as you progress.
Understand your marks
Independent answers earn the most marks. Clues and repair attempts help you learn, while receiving a lower score.
Correct on your first attempt, without using a clue.
Correct on your first attempt, after using a clue.
Correct after an unsuccessful first attempt, using the clue.
The question ends without a correct answer.
A clue is a learning aid. Use it when you need help, then work towards answering similar questions independently.
The adaptive part
At each new level, complete five questions first. After that, every new answer replaces the oldest one in the five-answer window.
Earn at least 16 / 25 marks and at least 3 independent correct answers in the latest five.
Have at least 10 marks and 2 independent correct answers, while not yet meeting both move-up conditions.
With fewer than 2 independent correct answers, return to the previous level to rebuild your basics.
Add an answer outcome and watch the decision change.
Only these five answers count. The next answer will replace Q1.

Level 3 · Application
13 / 25 marks
You have 2 independent correct answers and 13 marks. Keep practising to meet both move-up conditions.
This example explains the rules. It does not change your actual PAL score or learning level.
At the boundaries: Foundation has no lower level, so a refresh stays there. At Exam Command, meeting the move-up standard confirms performance at the highest level.
Make the most of PAL
Use Learner Support where available to ask about the current question, its answer or the concept involved. Keep your query related to that question.
Explanation options are shown where available. Some simple questions may not include an explanation window.
Once you qualify to move up, you may choose to continue practising at the current level and cover more questions. New answers keep your opportunity to progress open.
Your PAL dashboard brings together performance across levels and question types, helping you recognise your strengths and areas that need more practice.
A little clarity
A few answers to common questions about the PAL journey.
No. Read the introductory text or watch the videos if you need to build or refresh your basics. If you are already prepared, you can begin the MCQs directly.
Progression uses your latest five answers at the current level, rather than all answers taken so far. You must complete the first five questions at each new level before a movement decision is made.
Moving up requires both at least 16 marks and at least 3 independent correct answers. For example, 2 independent correct and 3 assisted correct answers give 16 marks, but only 2 independent answers. You remain at the current level.
With fewer than 2 independent correct answers, PAL sends you to the previous level to strengthen the basics. At Foundation, you continue there. After entering a different level, its first five questions form a fresh window.
Yes. You can choose to stay at the current level and work through more questions for proficiency. You can move up when you meet the progression conditions.
Use each answer to understand more—and work towards exam command.
